The project of Romeo and Juliet has taught the students some really valuable lessons in life. This project has taught the students that there are more than one way to learn. It has also taught them how to work together as a team as they would do in the real world. The students worked with kids they did not know threw technology tools and came together and came up with this brilliant project. This project has been valuable academically and has also prepared the students for the real world. They learned that they could have fun and learn all in the same environment. Although a lot of fun was during the project, it was all just to get the students to further engage in academics.
This project has really jump started the in depth reading aspect of really understanding the book. In order to create all these advertising posters and to be able to act the students really need to understand the story. They actually had to re-write and modernize the language of Shakespeare times. The students got to really understand it better because they actually had to translate the language and was really into the story. And not just the actors and writers were in depth but all of the students were involved. For instance, the students in the props group really needed to understand what was going on so they could know what tools and props they needed for the production to come to life. Although the in depth analysis was important, an even more important aspect would be the collaboration.
The collaboration of Grosse Pointe South and Van Meter High makes the project even better because it prepares the students for the real world. It gets the students ready for the world and its modern technology. The students actually got a chance to share ideas with other students from a different state who have completely different likes and ideas. The students had the opportunity to work others and communication skills. It gives them a chance to work as a team and practice teamwork for whatever career they choose. This project has really taught the students how to work with each other. Although the collaboration of the two schools was very important for the project, the fact that it was entirely student run is just as important.
This project has taught the students very important themes such as responsibility, pride, and respect. The students had to create a movie of a play entirely by themselves just with the help of one another. They had to pull together as a team to solve problems within the project without the help of teachers or adults just each other and the school they are collaborating with. The students get to take pride in this project because they are the first group in the world to ever do a project of this caliber. Many mistakes were made only because they couldn’t learn from others mistakes because they are the precedent of this type of project. The project has really taught the students to respect each other and their own personal abilities. The students learned a lot about each other and built friendships within this project. This Project has taught the students a lot about life, but most importantly it taught them about school.
The most important lesson that the students learned was school is more than textbooks and test. The students had fun and got tons of work done at the same time. School should be fun as well as productive academically. The students actually had something to go to school for and enjoy themselves. They learned about the story and had fun while doing it. The project has taught them very important lessons and hopefully they put them to use. And realize school can be fun as long as they make it that way. And that’s why this project was so important to the students as well as Grosse Pointe South.
The project of Romeo and Juliet helped the students in many ways. For most of them this project will be used as memorabilia for their high school years. The students can actually take pride in this because no one has ever done this. So they could go down in history for this project that was done completely run by all students. It taught them very valuable lesson in life that they can use in their lives and worlds outside of the doors of GPS. Although a lot of fun was during the project, it was all just to get the students to further engage in academics.
